Summer Cross-Country Series
Well done to club members that took part in this summer's Herefordshire Cross-Country League. Your club is immensely proud of each and every one of you and this has been a fantastic season for Ludlow Runners! We are delighted to have finished runners up in this summer's league - who would have thought that we could have achieved this just a few years ago when we barely fielded a team? Well done everyone!
Naturally, there have been some incredible individual performances too. Our very own Amy Fulford decimated her competitors and was crowned Female League Champion 2018. This is the first time a Ludlow Runner has ever won this. She also won her age category and the local trophy cabinet makers are in clover.
The ladies race bling didn't stop there, though. Claire Thomas and Emily Hinton were 1st and 2nd, respectivley, in the FV35 category. It was great to see Anne Baskeyfield win her age category, congratulations Anne.
We had powerful representation from the men too:
Jamie Shingler picked up his medal for 1st place in the V40 category. Jamie is always there or thereabouts at the sharp end of the field, and it's been great to have him back after a period of injury. Well done Mr S.
David Haynes got a bronze in the 'should know better' category (V75!) and his presence always lifts the team.
A number of people contribute strongly to the team overall without taking home a medal themselves - such is the competition in the top 10 or 15.
Oscar Dickens, in his first summer season, was right up there in all four races - no lower than 7th - and deserves a round of applause.
Jon Tovey has had an amazing run of form, whilst Craig Collier and Matt Jenneson almost always make up the A team.
And finally, just a word about some spectatular improvements this year: Andrew Dempsey in particular. Paul Dews, Dan Spear, and James Hinton have also leapt up the standings this summer. Alice Godding is pretty much punching out a PB every time she races, and it's great to have youth on our side!
The winter season starts in mid-October - more details to follow. #justsaying.
