Race Report - Severn Valley 5k

A welcome return to racing for Jamie Shingler

Paul Baskeyfield reports:

A warm, humid, but cloudy June morning saw 16 members start the 5K race. As for the route, it was definitely un-flat, and those familiar with Ludlow parkrun would have enjoyed the two fast downhill sections and tough climbs, although the final hill was a little too close to the finish for the author.

The club’s presence was also apparent in the results, with Amy Fulford and Jamie Shingler winning the race between them. Well done also to Claire Thomas, who won 3rd place lady plus 2nd in her age group, & also to Alice Godding, who won 2nd place in hers. The author managed only 3rd place in his, although it was by far the widest (50 to infinite age!).

Another victory for AmyAlthough not strictly a championship run, the sunnier and warmer 10 kilometre race was also graced with ten Ludlow Runners, with Joseph Manley being the 1st club member to finish in 16th place, followed by Peter Cartwright (45th), and then Tina Cartwright (67th). Showing she isn’t only a 5K (park)runner, Tina also won 2nd place in the very wide 50+ category.

Well done to everyone who competed and also all non-running supporters: a brilliant day for our club.
