Mortimer Forest 10 Mile Race

Russell Mapp gives the race briefing.

On Sunday 8th December 2013, Russell Mapp stood in front of the excited 200 or so sturdy adventurous hill runners assembled for the 20th Mortimer Forest Annual 10 mile race. Russell has organised this popular run for each of the last 20 years and has stood in front of the runners each and every time to explain the complications and risks of the run. But this was the first year he has received very loud and well deserved applause for his considerable efforts over the 20 years.

Ludlow Runners are particularly proud of this race which is always well organised and well marshalled.

Sunday was a beautiful sunny autumnal day and the course was magnificent being fairly dry under foot but still very demanding. It was excellent for hill running and times were generally excellent.

Runners came yet again from all over the country and all enjoyed the race, many having taken part in most of the 20 races.
