Ludlow Runners Dominate Purslow Hill Race


..and they’re off!

Every year as part of the Purslow Show on August Bank Holiday. There is a difficult hill race, which consists of a 3.7 miles dash up Clunbury Hill, along its ridge and then down across fields of cattle, back to the Show Ground.

Last year rain prevented the show from happening but this year 42 intrepid individuals, of all ages, ran in the strong very hot sunshine.

This is a very popular event and receives entries from runners from all over the area.

Ludlow Runners men entered a strong team who totally dominated the event picking up no less than 5 out of 6 medals for the men’s categories.

Jamie Shingler won the race and can be seen proudly holding his cups and medal (see photo), Stephen Lovejoy came home second, John Lyden was 4th and Dan Pavitt was 5th. Ian Prentice also received a medal in his age group.

The other members of the team also finished strongly and showed the benefit of all their serious training around the beautiful hills of Shropshire.
